The crayfish party – a traditional Swedish celebration – has evolved over centuries yet continues to unite generations. From the royal banquets of the 16th century, through the bourgeois 'kräftsupen' (crayfish supper) of the 19th century, to the 1930s when the term 'kräftskiva' was coined and spread from the upper classes to the general public.
Soon we will find ourselves there – in August, as the evenings begin to cool – witnessing gardens, cottages, and patios filled with hats and schnapps, while drinking songs echo across the neighborhoods.
We invite you to a crayfish party in “Emanuel's Cottage” – Operakällaren. While the setting may be grand, the experience is inspired by our culinary leader's childhood memories of crayfish parties in the countryside outside Örebro. We will serve an evening featuring Swedish crayfish, classic accompaniments, and Stenborgare in your glasses. An evening where shells are tossed freely, where familiarity and Swedish cultural heritage take center stage – and where the “Dream Wagon” is rolled around for a touch of decadence.
The evening offers drinking songs, live performances, and unexpected surprises.
It will be simple, relaxed – and unforgettably enjoyable!

We will meet at 5:30 PM for a pre-dinner drink crafted by Johan Evers. If the weather permits, we will toast under the open sky; otherwise, you will be welcomed to Othilia. Afterward, we will proceed to Operakällaren to commence this year's crayfish party at 6:30 PM.
