2026 will be a year that leaves its mark on the history of the Opera House. After generations of culinary delights, celebrations, and gatherings, the venue has now entered its final year before a major, multi-year renovation begins. To mark this occasion, a film campaign is being launched that captures the spirit of what is known as “The Last Year.”
The film is a tribute to the building and everything it has housed—and continues to house. Through a lone dancer moving through an empty Opera House, the viewer is guided through some of the building’s most iconic rooms: Operakällaren, Operabaren, Café Opera, Operaterrassen, Stora Salongen the kitchen. The movement through the rooms becomes a poetic reminder of all the stories and moments that have shaped the building over its long lifetime.
The film also conveys the campaign’s message: One House. Thousands of Stories. A house where generations have gathered, celebrated, and created memories. In *The Last Year*, guests are invited to experience the house one last time—with a simple invitation: *The House Is Yours. One Last Year.* And perhaps most importantly: *If Not Now, When?*
The campaign marks the start of 2026, a year in which the Operahuset operations Operahuset as vibrant as ever. Throughout the year, the restaurants, bars, and banquet halls will be open to guests for dining and events, while the Opera House prepares for its next chapter.
“This is a building that has meant a great deal to generations of both Stockholmers and international visitors. The film is our way of capturing the essence of what Operahuset —and what it can still be during its final year before the renovation,” says Oscar Durling, CEO.
