The year 2026 will leave its mark on Operahuset's history. After generations of gastronomy, festivities, and meetings, the house has now begun its final year before an extensive multi-year renovation commences. To commemorate this, a cinematic campaign is being launched, capturing the essence of what is being called The Last Year.
The film is a tribute to the house and everything it has encompassed – and still encompasses. Through a solitary dancer moving through an empty Operahuset, the viewer is guided through some of the building's most iconic rooms: Operakällaren, Operabaren, Café Opera, Operaterrassen, Stora Salongen, and the kitchen. The movement through the rooms becomes a poetic reminder of all the stories and moments that have shaped the house throughout its long history.
The film also conveys the campaign's message: One House. Thousands of Stories. A house where generations have met, celebrated, and created memories. During The Last Year, guests are invited to experience the house once more – with the simple call to action: The House Is Yours. One Last Year. And perhaps most importantly: If Not Now, When?
The campaign marks the beginning of 2026, a year in which operations at Operahuset will continue to be as vibrant as ever. The restaurants, bars, and event venues will remain open throughout the year for guests, dinners, and events, while the house prepares for its next chapter.
“This is a house that has meant a great deal to generations of both Stockholmers and international guests. The film is our way of capturing the essence of what Operahuset is – and what it can still be during its final year before renovation,” says Oscar Durling, CEO.
